Project delivery and outcomes
GPS Links delivered the PLC and SCADA changeovers while maintaining a fully operational works. This was achieved by close collaboration with operational staff in developing a methodology to minimise the number duration and risk of shutdowns including.
- Verification of software and ICA modifications over the last 10years to produce an updated FDS.
- Production of PLC and SCADA software, and electrical drawings for the new hardware.
- Full simulation testing.
- Alternative installation method to reduce changeover risks – by locating the new PLC and SCADA adjacent to the existing and connecting via comms to transfer each network or group of I/O from old to new, testing the networks while the old PLC retained control, and ensuring that all the field connections were correct, and the site could be viewed by both SCADAs before implementing the transfer and replacing the hardware.
